Does acupuncture hurt?
No, generally speaking acupuncture does not hurt, although it is not without sensation. As hair thin needles are inserted into acu-points on the body, Qi or energy is accessed, producing a Qi sensation. This is an unusual experience given that most of us are not used to feeling our energy moving like that. First-time patients are usually amazed at how relaxed they feel during a treatment.

What is Qi?
Qi is the energy that resides within everything that is living. Qi flows through energetic pathways called meridians just as blood flows through our blood vessels. It brings nourishment and health to every cell, tissue, organ, muscle, and gland. Acupuncture balances your Qi so that it reaches every part of your body, creating and maintaining health and wellness.

How long does an acupuncture treatment take?
Each treatment lasts about an hour long. The initial treatment may run a bit longer, because a thorough medical intake is performed along with at treatment.

What kind of needles do you use?
Mountain Acupuncture Clinic uses only single use disposable needles. The size of the needle depends on the area of the body it is being used for.

How many treatments do I need?
Everybody responds differently to acupuncture. Your practitioner will take into account the severity of your ailment, how you respond to treatment, and how long you have been suffering, and provide you with a treatment plan.
